Weingut Zieresen Jaspis Pinot Noir from Zipsin 2022
Weingut Zieresen Jaspis Pinot Noir from Zipsin 2022
Weingut Ziereisen farms limestone slopes in Germany's southernmost Baden, on the Rhine near the Alsace border, with a minimal-intervention, terroir-first philosophy. Jaspis is the estate’s top tier, and Zipsin is its old-vine jewel: a single limestone parcel within the Schulen vineyard, planted in 1958. Fermented spontaneously with around 40% whole bunches, aged in barrique and bottled unfiltered, it shows ripe cherry, rose petal and pepper with a touch of toast, wrapped in a silky, dense yet fresh palate with a long, spicy finish. 95 points, Wine Advocate. For those who love Burgundian Pinot Noir and would rather pay for what’s in the bottle than for a brand premium, you can’t go wrong with this wine. Best with duck, game birds or wild mushrooms.
